Combat is the core piece behind Ash Like Snow. It’s what the entire board revolves around! (Well mostly...) Most if not all characters will find themselves in combat at some point. Combat is when a player engages in a battle between one or more other player(s). Your stats play a key role in combat and determine what you can and cannot do. There are two particular “hidden” stats that we’re going to focus on. Damage (DMG) and Health (HP). DMG, of course expresses how much damage you can deal to a target, while HP expresses how much damage you can take before passing out. You find your DMG by multiplying your ATK stat by 26. You find your HP stat by multiplying your VIT by 130.
Whether you’re using the health bar or not, you need to have your HP somewhere towards the end of your post when in a fight. When taking damage, simply subtract the DMG amount from your HP and then you have your remaining HP. If you prefer to use the health bar, simply do the same and then divide your remaining amount of HP by your total amount, and then fix the “Width” percentage in the HP Bar's code to the percentage you got from dividing the two numbers. (Hypothetically, if you had 100 HP, and then you took 20 damage leaving you with 80 HP, you would simply divide 80/100, which is 80%, and then change the Width in the code to “80%”. Simple! The health bar code can be found at the end of this post. If you need help, contact Soran or Mickey.)
Now, when fighting someone else, there are a few variables you should keep in mind. Building up momentum before you attack, striking from behind your opponent, and attacking an opponent’s weak points all yield a greater damage output. Striking with momentum (simply running at an enemy as you hit them) for example will give you a 1.5x buff to your attack. So if you have 100 DMG, you would deal 150 DMG for that attack. It’s the same for striking your opponent from behind. Although, attacking an opponent’s weak points holds a slightly larger buff, at 1.7x the normal DMG you would deal. Everyone’s weak points consist of the head, neck, joints, stomach, and crotch. This also applies for mecha. A mech’s weak points consist of only it’s joints. However, when fighting a FRAME this only applies when the FRAME’s Primal Armor is taken down.
Now, here’s a (very simple) example of all of this in use:
Soran used his strength alone to kick forward, breaking into a sprint and ripping through the wind as he aimed to drive his fist straight into Mickey’s face. The young man would close his right palm, sticking his left hand out in front of him while he reeled his right arm back. He would halt to a stop just a few inches in front of his best friend as Soran shot his fist into the other boy’s face.
ATK: 15 SPD: 20 VIT: 10 FCS: 25 PTN: 20
( sticker located in the smilies thing)
DMG: 585
or alternatively:
HP: 1300/1300
MANA: 2600/2600
-next post-
Mickey would get punched in the face like a bitch.
ATK: 15 SPD: 20 VIT: 10 FCS: 25 PTN: 20
or alternatively:
HP: 715/1000
MANA: 2600/2600
Of course you wouldn't put the "or alternatively" in the post itself, but those are the two things you're allowed to do in order to keep track of your health in threads. If you have any questions, notify Soran! He wrote the combat system so it'd probably be the easiest for everybody if you just ask him about what you're confused with.
